The Ministry of Health designated 47 tertiary hospitals for the 5th term (2024–2026). The share of severe cases, specialists and accreditation are reviewed every three years.
What a tertiary hospital is
The top tier of hospitals, specialising in serious illness. Surgery, chemotherapy and radiation all run under one roof, and because these are university hospitals, professors see patients themselves.
What it means for international patients
- Most have an international clinic with English, Chinese and Russian coordinators
- Treatment order is set by multidisciplinary conference
- Facilities such as particle therapy and isolation wards exist at only some hospitals, so matching matters
